Dear Parents,
First of all, on behalf of the MJHS staff, I would like to thank
everyone who took the time to bring food, share positive thoughts, and
generally show your appreciation for our staff during Staff Appreciation
Week. MJHS is the largest school in the Moscow School District and
everyone from cooks, custodians, maintenance workers, resource officer,
lunch duty aides, para-professionals, teachers, secretaries, and
administrators have benefited (and gained weight) from this outpouring
of kindness. We know that all of you are also busy with your own
families, jobs, and activities, and we greatly appreciate you for your
support.
Today is a busy day at MJHS. Sixth graders from throughout the
community are touring our school and registering for next year's
classes. Our eighth grade ambassadors are giving sixth graders the
"cook's" tour of classrooms, PE locker rooms, and showing them how they
will get their lunch each day. Natalie Stone and Kris Poncek (MJHS
Counselors) are heading up registration and orientation. It is a blast
to see our new students and get to know them for the first time.
We have completely finished with this year's round of the ISAT. Every
student who attends school at MJHS received some form of this assessment
that is required by the State Department of Education. Initial
unverified scores show considerable growth in many areas, and we are
glad to be done with this chapter for the year. Parents will receive
assessment results after they are finalized by the test vendor in late
June.
The District's Newsletter is taking on a new electronic format and can
be found on the Moscow School District website. This change will save
thousands of pieces of paper and considerable expense. We hope it is
more convenient for you. We've also updated the district's website
address to simplify everyone's life. The new address is:
www.msd281.org <http://www.msd281.org/> .
The next few weeks are even busier than usual. End of year activities
are noted on the calendar below. In addition, teachers will be helping
students get ready for end-of-year projects, tests, assignments, etc.
If your son or daughter needs to be absent from school, please contact
the office at your earliest convenience to let us know of the absence.
Again, thank you for your support this week. It has been very
wonderful.
Sincerely,
Dale Kleinert, Principal
