Dear Parents, 

 

WE'RE OPEN FOR BUSINESS!  This is your reminder that our office is open
for business transactions.  As the end of the week approaches, our
office gets very busy and by Monday and Tuesday the line sometimes
stretches out of the building.  If you have the opportunity to stop by
today, tomorrow, or Thursday, you will avoid the longer lines for
optional fee purchases.  Please call ahead and make an appointment if
you would like to register a student who is new to the district.
Students already enrolled in the district do not need to re-register.  

 

BUSINESS TRANSACTIONS & SUMMER HOURS  --  The week of August 18 is the
best time to conduct the Back-to-School business transactions in our
office.  Afternoon hours are set aside for transactions on the
afternoons of August 25 and 26, but the office will be very busy with
new student registrations, schedule finalization, and business
transitions. The purchasing lines can be very long.  Once school begins,
students can conduct business before school, after school and during
their lunch period.

            Mon. - Fri.        August 18 - 22  8:00am - 12:00pm
&          1:00pm - 3:30pm

            Mon. - Tue.       August 25 - 26  (Afternoon Only)
1:00pm - 3:30pm

 

OPTIONAL FEES FOR 2008-09  

$25.00    Student Body Card - Provides admission to Moscow athletic
events and is required for all participating athletes

$16.00    Student Yearbook - Cub Tracks will be delivered in May 2009
($22.00 if purchased in May)

$  6.00    Student Literary Magazine - Ursa Major will be delivered in
May 2009

$  4.00    Combination Lock -- $2.00 is refunded when the student leaves

NEW STUDENT & PARENT ORIENTATION  --  Before school starts, on Thursday,
August 21, a program will be held in the MJHS Field House to provide
some specific information to help new students begin the school year
successfully.  Seventh grade students and parents may come at 6:45pm to
pick up their class schedule.  (Schedules will not be available for any
eighth and ninth grade students until the first day of school.)  The
program will begin at 7:00pm, and about 8:00pm, students and parents
will be free to walk through the main building.  This is an opportunity
to see where classes will be held and to locate the student's locker.
The office, however, will not be open for business transactions.

 

MEAL CARD TRANSACTIONS  --   All meal purchases will be handled by the
kitchen staff in the cafeteria.  Their hours will be the same as the
office, from August 18-26.  After school starts, students will need to
conduct meal transactions before school, and at lunchtime, in the
cafeteria.  An individual breakfast is $1.50, a lunch costs $2.00 and
milk is $.25.  Parents are encouraged to make larger payments on account
in order to minimize the number of transactions and to maintain a
balance.  Only one (1) charge is allowed per quarter, for emergencies.
Lunch balances can be viewed any time during the school year on the
Internet based "Parent Portal".  Usernames and passwords will be
disbursed to 7th graders with schedules at the Orientation on August
21st.  If you already have a password, it will remain the same. 

 

We are very excited about the upcoming 2008-09 school year.  The
building is so clean it sparkles, the Parent Support Team has been
working on a special surprise for our staff, and teachers are busily
preparing for their new students.  We hope you had time to enjoy your
son or daughter over the summer break, and we look forward to hearing
their stories when they come to class next Wednesday.
