Greetings Parents!

 

The minutes from our April meeting appear below.

 

Earlier this month, I asked for feedback from parents about the possibility
of moving meeting times.  I have heard from a few parents who would prefer
to move the meetings, but I am not sure there was a enough of a response to
warrant making a change.  If you would like to change the meeting time so
that you can become a more active participant in the PST, please let me know
soon at peggy at jenkinsresearch.com,  or come to our next meeting on May 6th.

Meeting Minutes

April  1, 2008

 

Principal's Report:

*	There will be two weeks of an altered schedule starting 4/14.
Students won't have ISAT tests back-to-back.  7th and 8th grade take the
ISAT and 9th grade will take the NWEA achievement test as a placement test
(district- level).  The week following the two-week period will be make-ups.
*	Staffing - aiming for 20-23 class sizes, which wouldn't include 8th
grade teaming next year.  
*	9th grade dance this Friday from 7 - 10 p.m.

*	Next week the election process begins with voting April 21.  
*	Registration this month.
*	Will try to look at process of registration/parent meetings to make
them more meaningful

 

Financial Report:  Peggy Jenkins - $2589

 

Curtain Report:  Faye Nagler - They have been ordered!  

 

February Parent night - Wrap Up:  Questionnaire indicated positive feedback.
There needs to be more time, especially for the breakout sessions.  Rotating
more than once would be great.  An issue was brought out at the parent night
about how teens talk to each other in a negative way that is not seen as bad
(more like teasing).  From this there was concern about potential bullying
and kids being afraid to say anything.  Bystander bullying is also an issue.
There was a discussion about how to approach this.  

 

Report from School District Liason: Lisa Morris - League of Women Voters
will come.

 

Teacher Appreciation Event   - after school ice cream event April 29th with
Marie and Faye organizing it.

 

The next PST meeting will take place on May 6  in Room 216 at 7:15 a.m.
