Dear Parents,
MJHS is off to another great start. Our opening days were
productive, positive, and exciting. We hope that you had the
opportunity to attend "Back To School Night". We saw a many of you, and
hope that you enjoyed the evening. Please let us know if there are ways
that we can make this event even more productive.
This newsletter may also be the first communication for
those of you who recently signed up for the MJHS Listserve. Welcome
aboard! You will also receive monthly emails from the webmaster that
will enable you to change your address status. Please contact the
webmaster for any changes as I am not able to make changes or additions
from my desk. I would like to thank Ed Christian, who is the webmaster
for the MJHS Listserve. He spends many hours ensuring that you can
receive emails from the school.
Yesterday, the MJHS staff was treated to an outstanding
breakfast provided by the MJHS Parent Support Team. The periodic
breakfasts are organized by Marie Charles. We would like to thank all
of the people who helped and brought food for this event. In addition
to breakfast, we were also treated by "Mom's in Touch" at lunchtime with
a huge basket of goodies, including fruit, snack bars, breads, etc. We
are feeling pretty spoiled. Thanks to all!!
The fall Idaho Standards and Achievement Test session began on September
18. Students take a Reading, Language, and Mathematics test, during
their Social Studies, Language Arts, and Math classes that are spread
out over a four week period. All tests are taken electronically on
computers. We will have opportunities for students who are absent to
take make-up tests, but it is very important to attend school as much as
possible during the testing sessions.
Progress report dates are coming up. All 7th grade students will be
receiving progress reports next week. All 8th grade students, and the
9th grade students who are achieving less than a "C" grade will have
progress reports sent out during the week of October 2 . Feel free to
contact your child's teachers at the school for additional information.
For those of you who haven't heard, we are using new software for all
of our student information systems. The software is called
"Powerschool". Progress Reports are part of the software package and
our teachers are busily trying to learn how to use this new system. We
hope that we can provide the best information next week, and ask that
you excuse any imperfections while we make this huge transition.
We have received all of our student body photo I.D. cards from the
photographer. This year the cards have a bar code that will be used in
the lunch line to keep track of meal purchases. We are also using
Powerschool in the lunchroom, and we are installing and testing as we
speak. As soon as we have the system stable, we will pass out the new
I.D. cards. All students who eat hot lunch will need their cards daily
to purchase a lunch. Our photo packets also arrived today, and we will
distribute to students during their last class today. If your child
missed photo day, the make-up day is scheduled for October 13.
I hope you've found the information included in this letter to be
useful. Please feel free to contact us at any time for additional
information. I've included some upcoming school calendar information
that will be useful for you.
Sincerely,
Dale Kleinert
