Dear Parents,

This newsletter is the first of a regular bi-weekly letter from the
Moscow Junior High School Principal. We post the letter to the MJHS
website, and also send it via email to all families who have signed up
for the Parent Support Team listserve. If you're reading this on the
web and would like to receive regular email updates, please contact us
and we will get you signed up.

Students and teachers have now been together in class for three days,
and you should have seen lots of paperwork introducing classes, school
activities, and academic information. If you have not seen any of this
paperwork, please dig through the backpack with your son or daughter, as
many of the forms need your attention. All of the paperwork is
important, but the "Student Information Card" is especially crucial. It
gives us the information needed to contact you during the school day in
case of an emergency.

Each student who attends Moscow Junior High School also received the
"Student Agenda". This document consists of the Student Handbook and a
daily planner. We've asked students to review the handbook portion with
parents. Following your review, please sign the front page and return
the handbook to school with your child. The daily planner is a great
way for you and your son/daugher to keep up with schoolwork. Please
encourage him/her to write something down for each class, every day.
Daily monitoring of the planner will help you communicate with your
child and the school.

All students should have some schoolwork to do each evening. Please set
aside a quiet time that can become a routine for homework. Many
websites are dedicated to helping parents and students with beginning of
the school year frustrations. Some have information about study habits,
others give advice on how to get back into the school routine. Here is
one that may give you some tips. www.familyeducation.com

School year office hours - The office is open and phones (882-3577) are
answered from 7:30 a.m., - 4:00 p.m., each school day. The attendance
line (892-1177) is available 24 hours a day for messages regarding
attendance. Please call the office as soon as possible when you know
your child will be absent.

Back to School Night

Please plan to attend our annual "Back to School Night". This event
will be on Thursday, September 7th, beginning in the Fieldhouse at 7:00
p.m. You will have the chance to go to each of your child's classes and
meet the teachers. Students will be bringing home more information and
their schedules on Wednesday, September 6.

School Photos

School photos will be taken on Friday, September 8. Students will be
bringing home more information on Wednesday, September 6. If your child
is not in school that day, a photo make-up day will take place in early
October.

We hope your family has a great school year. If we can help in any way,
please contact us at MJHS.

Sincerely,

Dale Kleinert, Principal

Moscow Junior High School
