Dear Parents -

 

As I write this letter, we are quickly coming to the end of our first
quarter of school.  The last day of the quarter is Thursday, November 2.
Seventh and Eighth grade students will have no school Thursday and
Friday, November 2nd and 3rd.  Ninth grade students will attend school
on November 2nd, but will have no school on Friday, November 3rd.

 

Seventh and Eighth Grade Conferences

Seventh and Eighth grade student-led conferences will be held on
Thursday, November 2nd from 3:00 until 8:20 p.m.,  and Friday, November
3rd from 7:00 a.m., until 11:00 a.m.  The conferences will give parents
an opportunity to conference with their child to view a portfolio of
first quarter school work in a guided setting with Science, English,
Math, and Social studies teachers available for consultation during the
conference.  Please call our office to schedule a 20 minute conference.
Ninth grade conferences can be scheduled at parent or teacher request as
needed.  Please contact specific teachers to schedule.   

 

Fall and Winter Athletic Season Transition

The fall athletics season is also winding down, and the winter
activities are already starting.  The following sports dates have been
confirmed.  Please call Dick Leander at MJHS with questions at 882-3577
after 1:00 p.m. each school day.  Parent meetings are listed in bold
print.

    9th Boy's Basketball tryouts    11/10

    7/8 Boy's Basketball tryouts    11/23  7th grade 3:15-4:45  8th
4:45 - 6:30pm  (3 days only)

    7/8 Boy's B-ball parent mtg. 11/18  6:30 Multipurpose room.

Cyberbullying Informational Event

We have coordinated with Unicel to present preventative information to
all of our students, parents, and staff to inform us about methods some
people use to harass/intimidate/bully using cell phones and computers.
All MJHS students will participate in activities during the day on
October 30, and parents and staff are invited to the Multi-Purpose Room
at 7:00 p.m., the same evening for a parents only informational session.
The MJHS Parent Support Team is sponsoring the evening event, and we
hope that you attend.  You will be receiving more information about this
activity soon via the listserve and from your son or daughter.

 Report Cards

The end of the quarter will bring report cards to your mailboxes.  We
plan to mail report cards on Wednesday, or Thursday, November 8 or 9.
We will also include the quarterly "Cub Communicator" in that mailing to
provide additional school-wide news.  Please feel free to contact any of
us at any time with your questions, comments, or concerns.
