Dear Parents,=20

As I write this letter, students have begun their second
semester of the 05-06 school year at MJHS. We recently had our first
Winter Activities Awards Assembly, and I was able to talk to the student
body about their achievement and social interactions. We are very proud
of the many positive interactions that take place each day. Our
students take care of each other, and are genuinely respectful on a
day-to-day basis.
We've just finished our second round of nominations for the
"Learners Today - Leaders Tomorrow" student recognition program. Over
150 students were nominated by their teachers five different categories.
Letters will be going home to parents of nominated students this week. =20
This coming Thursday, February 9, we will have our second
all-school locker check. This is an opportunity to do a little "light
housekeeping" in order to find over-due library books, and/or other
school materials that should be turned in. This would also be a good
time to check under beds and on top of night tables at home to see if
there are school items that should be turned in.
I would like to thank the MJHS Parent Support Team for their
assistance this year. They have been active in many ways. Their design
and sale of "MJHS Cub T-Shirts" was a huge success. If you missed out on
getting one of these great shirts, another opportunity will come along
soon. The team also supported the second family night of the year with
an "Internet Safety" theme. Over 50 students and parents learned how to
stay safe on the Internet, and enjoyed free pizza and ice cream at this
very informative event. First Step Internet sponsored the activity, and
we would like to thank them for their support as well.
Speaking of technology, we have recently used the last of
our inventory of replacement computer monitors. We've noticed that some
people have begun replacing their home computer monitors with LCD flat
screens. If you have an extra 17" monitor that you'd like to get rid
of, we would be happy to take it off your hands. Monitors must be in
working condition and the donation is tax deductible. Give me a call if
you'd like to help out, and we can work out the details.
You should have received a first semester Report Card by
now. Enclosed with the Report Card was the 2nd Quarter Issue of the
"Cub Communicator", and it is full of school-wide information. It is
also posted on the school website for your use. In addition to the
dates attached to this letter, you can also find the complete school
event calendar on Page 14 of the Student Agenda.
Please remember to call our attendance line if your child is
going to be absent for any reason. This phone line is a 24 hour message
machine that can be reached at 892-1177.
