For those that missed our Internet Safety Family Night, it was a great program! Very informative and very enlightening. It certainly got me thinking and hopefully got my kids thinking too. We had 28 kids participate in the interactive program, and each family left with materials to follow up with at home. We will probably offer the program again in the future. I highly recommend making time to participate in it with your kids. - Susan Mahoney MJHS PST chairperson --------------060300020700030102080402 Content-Type: text/html; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

Hi, I

Dear Parents,
=20 As I write this letter, students have begun their second semester = of the=20 05-06 school year at MJHS. = We=20 recently had our first Winter Activities Awards Assembly, and I was able = to talk=20 to the student body about their achievement and social = interactions. We are very proud of the many = positive=20 interactions that take place each day. =20 Our students take care of each other, and are genuinely = respectful on a=20 day-to-day basis.
=20 We’ve just finished our second round of nominations for the = “Learners=20 Today – Leaders Tomorrow” student recognition program. Over 150 students were = nominated by=20 their teachers five different categories. =20 Letters will be going home to parents of nominated students this=20 week.
=20 This coming Thursday, February 9, we will have our second = all-school=20 locker check. This is an=20 opportunity to do a little “light housekeeping” in order to = find over-due=20 library books, and/or other school materials that should be turned = in. This would also be a good time = to check=20 under beds and on top of night tables at home to see if there are school = items=20 that should be turned in.
=20 I would like to thank the MJHS Parent Support Team for their = assistance=20 this year. They have been = active in=20 many ways. Their design = and sale of=20 “MJHS Cub T-Shirts” was a huge success. If you missed out on = getting one of=20 these great shirts, another opportunity will come along soon. The team also supported the = second=20 family night of the year with an “Internet Safety” = theme. Over 50 students and parents = learned how=20 to stay safe on the Internet, and enjoyed free pizza and ice cream at = this very=20 informative event. First = Step=20 Internet sponsored the activity, and we would like to thank them for = their=20 support as well.
=20 Speaking of technology, we have recently used the last of our = inventory=20 of replacement computer monitors. =20 We’ve noticed that some people have begun replacing their = home computer=20 monitors with LCD flat screens. = If=20 you have an extra 17” monitor that you’d like to get rid of, = we would be happy=20 to take it off your hands. = Monitors=20 must be in working condition and the donation is tax deductible. Give me a call if you’d = like to help=20 out, and we can work out the details.
=20 You should have received a first semester Report Card by = now. Enclosed with the Report Card = was the=20 2nd Quarter Issue of the “Cub Communicator”, and = it is full of=20 school-wide information. = It is also=20 posted on the school website for your use. =20 In addition to the dates attached to this letter, you can also = find the=20 complete school event calendar on Page 14 of the Student=20 Agenda.
=20 Please remember to call our attendance line if your child is = going to be=20 absent for any reason. = This phone=20 line is a 24 hour message machine that can be reached at=20 892-1177.
=20 Until next time, please give us a call if we can help you in any=20 way.
Sincerely,
Dale Kleinert, Principal

Teachers and parents all over the state are collecting signatures to help place an initiative on the ballot next fall so that voters all over the state can decide whether or not to reinstate the penny sales tax that the legislature sun-setted. The proposal is that the extra money would go entirely for education. There are very reasonable stipulations on what it can be spent on, and also stipulations that the legislature can't decrease the current amount of allocated education dollars to make up for it. It's estimated that the Moscow School District would receive over $1 million more in funding if this measure is voted in. Across the state, 48,000 signatures are needed to place the initiative on the ballot. MEA has asked for our help collecting signatures in Latah county. We have information sheets and signature collection sheets available for any parent willing to help. They are at Anne Peterson's house (she lives behind McDonald school) and you can call her at 882-0252 to arrange to pick up a packet. Our local MEA would like the sheets turned in by the end of spring break, but you can turn it in any time before that. One note: they need us to keep signature sheets by county, and not mix voters from different counties on the same sheet. So if you will be collecting signatures in a different county, ask for an extra signature sheet. - Susan Mahoney From macantr@moscow.com Mon Feb 13 04:50:51 2006 From: macantr@moscow.com (Mac Cantrell) Date: Sun, 12 Feb 2006 20:50:51 -0800 Subject: [Mjhsteam] Signature Collecters needed for ID Educators Penny Sales Tax Initiative In-Reply-To: <43EFF73F.1000002@moscow.com> Message-ID:Bi-Weekly = Principal’s=20 Letter

Good Morning everyone.. Katy drew the winning ticket this morning and Peggy Hoobler won. Stephan Hoobler had her buy 30 tickets. Katy is thinking about making a MHS Quilt. She still needs to raise about $2000.00 for the trip. This raised about $110.00 . Thanks to everyone who purchased any raffel tickets..
Katy is also planning on having a foul Shot Shootoff either March 31st. Or April 1st. Some of the girls from the 7th and 8th Grade basketball team said that they would help with this fund raiser. We have a Coug Sweat suit & Cougar Basketball Shorts donated by the Crimson & Grey. We are also getting some gift certificates from local resturants as prizes for most shots. most sponsors, most money collected, etc. I sent forms home with all the 7th and 8th grade girls basketball "A" team members and I just need to know from the parents if Friday the 31st or Sat April 1st is a better day.. We can always look at March 25th if the other days don't work. I do need to know ASAP so I can reserve a gym.. Thanks to everyone for they help with Katy's fund Raising. People to People is a great organization and Katy is really looking forward to the trip.
If you would like some more information about People to People just let me know.
Thanks again,
Patty , Katy and Doug Brandt
