*MJHS PST Minutes for April 2006*

/Susan Mahoney, our MJHS Parent Support Team representative for 
2005-2006, led our support team meeting of the school year. Hillary 
Dilworth recorded the minutes. /

 

/Welcome and introductions were made, the meeting agenda, and April 
school calendar was handed out to those in attendance./

 

*The following were in attendance: *Desiree Jacobsen, Erin McCall, 
Hillary Dilworth, Mary Jo Van Gerpen, Susan Mahoney, Glenn 
Segota-Faculty Rep., Dale Kleinert-Principal, Kevin Hill-Assistant 
Principal and Carolyn Birmingham.**

 

*Facilities Committee Report*

Desiree Jacobson shared /updated us on the survey that was completed by 
the U of I, and that none of the options for maintenance had support. No 
additional bonds would be proposed, in fear of they may fail. The 
committee would like to regroup and offer a Focus Group for support. She 
reported that in the whole of Moscow, the community is in support of 
education, but agreements all vary. Desiree Jacobsen would like to 
remain as the MJHS parent representative for the Facilities Task Force 
Committee, and all present were in agreement.

 

*Assistant Principal's Report*

    * *Freshmen Dance*: Mr. Hill shared the need for additional
      chaperones for the Frosh Dance that is being held on 4/7/06. He is
      in need of 7 adult chaperones. Mr. Hill also was leaving town, due
      to a death in the family, and Mr. Kleinert would be in charge of
      the dance.
    * *Pennies for Leukemia* drive was getting ready for the kick-off,
      4/10-4/14th.
    * *School Lottery Day*: Also discussed was the school lottery Day,
      and that Mr. Hill's team was able to win $162.00 in lottery
      scratch offs provided by the State Lottery Office in Lewiston. 20
      other school representatives were invited to this event.

 

*Principal's Report*

    * *Freshman Orientation*: Dale Kleinert discussed how the 9th grade
      orientation was an overwhelming success. He was pleased at the
      turnout.
    * *Elections:* Student body elections were coming up for offices of
      President, Vice President and Secretary. The students interested
      needed the following: 20 signatures, good academic record and of
      course student body votes on April 21st.
    * *Diary of Anne Frank*: Mr. Kleinert acknowledged that Mrs. Holtz
      donated the Kenworthy auditorium time to the Silver Team for the
      viewing of "Diary of Anne Frank".
    * *Report Cards*: In the next week, report cards, with Cub
      Communicator, are coming in the mail.
    * *ISAT testing* will begin with Reading , Language arts, Math and
      science . Mr. Kleinert is also going to offer a Test Taking
      Preparation letter to both Parents and Students. ISAT's are a
      requirement for graduation and students will be tested again in
      the 10th grade.

*Penny Tax Initiative Reminders*- These forms need to be turned in.

 

*April 26th Health and Wellness Family Night*: Additional businesses are 
needed to participate in the event. The Deadline for applications was 
changed to 04/24/06. Dale Kleinert was also going to work on an 
additional email for the list serve.

 

*Staff Appreciation Report*- Sandy Gibson will be sending out an email 
regarding the dates & items needed.

 

*Potential Student Directory Form*- Susan Mahoney passed out several 
different ideas for a student directory for the school year of 06-07. 
Lots of options were discussed regarding and opt in or opt out, email 
possibilities, and how the forms would be distributed to the families. 
All of the idea copies were sent home with those were present at the 
meeting and a finalized form will be arrange in the May PST meeting.
