Dear Parents,=20

Since the last bi-weekly newsletter, we've given the Direct Writing
Assessment and the Direct Math Assessment to every student at MJHS,
we've had a snow day, and the seventh graders have gone on the Eagle
Fieldtrip to Coeur D' Alene, We've also recognized all of our fall
activities participants during an all-school assembly, we've had
multiple school activities and athletic events,  and we've enjoyed the
holiday concert along with thousands of other people at the UI Kibbie
Dome. Whew!

This upcoming week before the holiday break will also include a flurry
of activities and academic events.  Our last day of school before the
break is Friday, December 16.  Students and staff will return to school
on Tuesday, January 3.

Progress reports will be generated for seventh graders this Tuesday
December 13, and you should receive them in the mail before the end of
the week. If you are a parent of an eighth or ninth grader, and would
like academic information before the break, please contact the
individual classroom teacher.   Even though new long-term projects won't
be assigned to be completed over the break, this is a good opportunity
to get some make-up work completed.  The end of the quarter is January
26.=20

Moscow School District board policy enables ninth grade students to
waive one or two semesters of Physical Education, providing certain
conditions are met.  Information was given at ninth grade registration
and ninth grade students have recently been reminded that applications
for waiver must be submitted to the principal at least 30 days before
the next semester begins.  More information is available at the MJHS
office.

Our first round of nominations for our "Learners Today/Leaders Tomorrow"
program has come to closure.  Over 100 students were nominated in five
categories that include, "Improved Student", "Support for Others",
"Academic Excellence", "Positive Attitude", and "Conscientious Student".
Following the initial nominations, teachers then narrow down the
nominations to one or two students per grade level in each category.
Students who were nominated and were recognized in each category have
recently received a letter at home.  We will have a brief presentation
for the 24 students that were recognized during a "cookie break" this
coming Thursday.  Those students will also receive a gift certificate
that can be used at Hasting's as a token of our appreciation.

It seems like we all look forward to holiday breaks.  I hope that this
upcoming break will give you time to enjoy your family in a restful
setting.  Our teachers have worked hard and they are also looking
forward to time with family.  On behalf of all of the staff members at
Moscow Junior High School, I would like to wish you "Happy Holidays".
