[RPPTL ISC] RPPTL Insurance and Surety Committee updates

Good afternoon,
Debbie Crockett and I are excited to be leading this committee for the next Bar year with Allison Hertz and Reed Grimm as our Vice Chairs.
Recognizing that many of our meetings needed to be cancelled this year, we have decided to align our meetings going forward with the Section’s Executive Council meetings.

Our next meeting will be by zoom on August 17 at 12pm.  The remaining meetings will tentatively be scheduled for zoom at 12pm on the following dates (unless we meet in person at the EC meeting): November 9, February 1, May 21

At our August 17th meeting, we plan to have our Section lobbyist friend French Brown visit [I’ve asked him] to update us on what he sees in the upcoming legislative session. We also will discuss our proposed webinar series on bonds.  And we will get an update on the Board Certification process.

Lastly, we would also like to ensure that this committee is a place where insurance and real estate issues can be discussed. Lawyers have a tendency to think that particular problems they see in the law or their practice are singular and only felt by them, when truly most issues are shared by a number of practitioners. Sometimes the brain trust that is this Section can help, through discussion, CLEs, legislation.  Has a legal issue arisen for you recently that might be helped by a discussion with our committee?  If so, please feel free to email me and we’ll add it to our agenda.
