Dear RP Chairs and RP Division Executive Council Members.

Below is a message from Tae Kelley Bronner, chair of the new RPPTL Section Florida Bar Leadership Committee.  At Tae's request which I fully concur, Committee Chairs are requested to circulate this message to committee members.   Because of short timing issues, please sent the message as soon as possible.

Executive Council members who are not chairs also serve valuable roles as leaders and mentors to others; thus, I request that you forward Tae's message to other RPPTL Section members that you believe might be interested in the Leadership Academy, and to encourage potential Academy members to submit their application.  Do not be concerned that someone may receive duplicate emails (the cost of delivery is cheap!)

Attention all RPPTL members:

The RPPTL Section Leadership Academy Committee is seeking individuals interested in participating in the Florida Bar Leadership Academy and receiving the RPPTL Section scholarship(s).

The Florida Bar has recently created the Florida Bar Leadership Academy.  The Florida Bar Leadership Academy is a multi-session training program designed to assist a diverse Bar and inclusive group of lawyers in becoming better leaders within our profession while enhancing their leadership skills. Each year a select group of participants will be selected from applications submitted to the Bar to become Academy Fellows.

During their one year term, Academy Fellows follow a curriculum tailored to enhance their professional development, knowledge base, and experience, which will include attending Bar and networking events and special educational programs. Academy Fellows are given the opportunity to learn more about the inner workings of the Bar and their role in the legal profession, while enhancing their personal leadership skills. The Academy's mission is to identify, nurture,  and inspire effective leadership within the Bar and the legal community.

The Executive Council of the Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar recently approved a motion to create a Leadership Academy committee.  The committee is charged with selecting up to 2 members of the Executive Council or active, contributing members of a RPPTL Section Committee to apply for nomination by the Section to the Florida Bar Leadership Academy.    In the event the nominee(s) is chosen as an Academy Fellow, the Section will reimburse each such participant up to $3,500 for out of pocket travel and hotel expenses incurred in attending the Leadership Academy.  To receive the scholarship, the nominee(s) if chosen as an Academy Fellow must agree to remain actively involved in the Section after the conclusion of the Leadership Academy.

To be eligible for the RPPTL Section scholarship(s), potential applicants are asked to submit a copy of their Florida Bar Leadership Academy application to Tae Bronner at tae at estatelaw.com<mailto:tae at estatelaw.com> on or before MARCH 15, 2013.  The RPPTL Section Leadership Academy Committee will review the applications and select up to two nominee(s).   The nominee(s) will be informed of their selection for the potential scholarship on or before MARCH  22, 2013.  The nominee will be responsible for submitting the completed application to The Florida Bar Leadership Academy for consideration by The Florida Bar Leadership Academy Committee on or before the deadline of APRIL 1, 2013.  The RPPTL Section Leadership Academy Committee does not have any influence or control over the selection of Academy Fellows by the Florida Bar.  In addition, any member of the Section is welcome to submit an application to the Florida Bar for the Leadership Academy without first submitting the application for review by the RPPTL Section Leadership Academy Committee.  The review by the RPPTL Section Leadership Academy Committee is simply for consideration for a potential scholarship, not for selection as an Academy Fellow.

Applications for the Florida Bar Leadership Academy are now available on The Florida Bar's website at http://www.floridabar.org/leadershipacademy.  The applications will be accepted by The Florida Bar through APRIL 1, 2013.
