Good afternoon everyone. Well, unfortunately we will not be meeting in person at The Breakers. Please read below for an important message from our Section Chair, Bill Hennessy.

The Leasing Committee will still meet utilizing the zoom platform. One of the items we will open for discussion will be changes to the Supreme Court approved lease forms that the Leasing Forms subcommittee has been working on for the past several months. This will be an information item for the Executive Council and so your feedback will be important. The Florida Realtors are currently reviewing the forms and will have some recommended changes which we will send to you for your comments once received and prior to our meeting.

Thank you.

Brenda Ezell

Subject: [RPPTL Executive Council 2020-21] Breakers Update Email

Good afternoon everyone.

Well folks, today brings to mind the old Yiddish proverb ... "Mann Tracht, Un Gott Lacht" or "Man Plans, and God Laughs". Debbie Goodall shared the same axiom with me when Hurricane Matthew was bearing down on Florida for her meeting at Disney's Boardwalk. And so true it is again today...

After giving this continued and thoughtful consideration, we have decided to forgo an in-person meeting at The Breakers this year and convert to a virtual program. Mary Ann and I very much appreciate the thoughtful and supportive notes that we have received from many of you. This was indeed a tough decision as The Breakers was willing to accommodate and we still had a great many of you who wanted to attend. Many of you shared that this would be the first Breakers meeting you had missed in more than 20 years. The risk, however, is just too great with the ongoing spike in COVID cases in Florida and Palm Beach.

With this decision behind us, we are now in full planning mode for virtual meetings the week of August 17-22. I expect that our current General Standing meetings which were already scheduled for Zoom on Monday and Tuesday will proceed as scheduled. I have asked Katherine Frazier and Sarah Butters to take a look over their respective Real Property and Probate and Trust Division Committee Meetings on Thursday and use some time on Wednesday to prevent overlap of meetings. We will be sending out an updated Committee Schedule by the beginning of next week. The Executive Council Meeting and Roundtables will be conducted by Zoom on Saturday August 22 as scheduled. If you owe your Division Directors materials for the Executive Council agenda, please get them in this week.

The Annual Legislative and Case Update Seminar will also be virtual and will still take place on August 21, 2020. It is very important that each of you support this seminar. All registration proceeds for persons attending the broadcast on August 21 will continue to benefit the RPPTL PACs. Our support of the RPPTL PACs is critical to our legislative success. I ask that each of you get the word out within your firms and help us make this year's Legislative and Case Law Update a success. The Legislative and Case Law Update Committee has worked very hard to put together a fantastic line up of speakers. You can register for the Legislative Update at https://40thlegupdate.eventbrite.com <https://40thlegupdate.eventbrite.com> .

For those of you who have existing room reservations at The Breakers, your reservations will be automatically cancelled. You will be receiving a refund directly from the Breakers within the next few days. Mary Ann and I are currently working with The Breakers to set aside a limited number of rooms at our discounted rate for those who still wish to stay at the hotel that week. You will need to make a new reservation to secure a room. I will share more information on the room block as I receive it. The Florida Bar will also be taking care of refunding all meeting registrations. That process will likely play out over the next few weeks. I will keep you posted on the refund process as that plays out over the next 30 days. If you have already registered for the Legislative and Case Law Update, first--- thank you!- and second, your registration will automatically be converted to the Webinar on August 21. If you have any questions regarding the refund process, please let us know.

Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, I want to thank our RPPTL sponsors. Now more than ever, it is important that we take time to reach out to our sponsors and help support them. I will be scheduling a call with our sponsors to discuss the impacts of our new format and opportunities as we move forward. Thank you for sticking with us during these difficult and crazy times.

Once again, thanks for your patience. Look forward to seeing your smiling faces on Zoom soon.

Bill

Subject: [RPPTL Executive Council 2020-21] RPPTL Executive Council Meeting Update - Deadline Reminder

Email sent on behalf of Bill Hennessey, RPPTL Chair:

Good morning.

I am writing to provide an update on our upcoming Executive Council Meeting. At this point, Mary Ann and I are continuing to monitor the situation and plan to make a decision on whether to have in person meetings and Legislative and Case Law Update Seminar by the end of this month. In the meantime, I writing to remind you that the deadline for cancelling your hotel room at The Breakers is July 20. If your plans have changed, and you no longer wish to attend in person, please be sure to cancel your room on or before that day. Mary Ann and I will be taking into account our final room tallies after July 20 as a factor in whether we will have the live meeting. If we decide to switch completely to an online program after July 20, your reservation be automatically cancelled at no charge. In that event, The Breakers will be setting aside a small block for those who wish to re-register at our group rate.

Once again, no one should feel obligated to attend any of these meetings or the seminar in person. We will make all meetings available by Zoom and you will NOT be punished or shamed in any way if you do not attend. If you are in a high risk category, or live with someone in a high risk category, I would encourage you to stay home and join us for our next set of meetings when COVID-19 is behind us (hopefully soon!).

If the live meetings do proceed, we will be working with The Breakers to comply with the most current recommendations and guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, and the Florida and Palm Beach County Departments of Health. The Breakers most current list of Health & Safety Precautions can be found on their website at the top of their page under COVID-19 Updates or you can go directly to thebreakers.com/updates/<http://thebreakers.com/updates/>.

Thanks. I'll be back in touch soon.

Bill Hennessey
