[RPPTL LandTen] violations of prior lease carry over?

Tenant signs a lease for a term is 7 months. At the end of 7 months Tenant signs a new lease for 7 months.  Are lease violations during the first lease term carry over to the new lease?   I thought that there was case law stating that a new lease cancels terms in a prior lease but I cannot find anything on point.   Any help greatly appreciated.
