I see a problem with section 8 and other subsidized housing. Section 8 is calculated on tenants income by federal statue. In generally a tenant pays 30% of income toward rent and utilities (there is a form to calculate rent that ooks like the IRS drafted it). If additional items such as insurance is mandated by the landlord to be paid by a section 8 tenant, the tenant is paying more than 30% income and it is a violation of federal law. I have litigated this issue years ago and it is probably still good law.

As you may have heard, I am Rob’s successor as RPPTL legislative co-chair from the RP side… Rob gave me your name as the contact for landlord-tenant. Is that accurate? If not, please blame Rob and copy me.
Landlord tenant has the privilege of receiving the first bill for comment, which is attached. The Section has been asked for comment. I do not have a date for a response, but sooner is generally better than later. I have asked Peter for a deadline and when it is known, I will share it with you. Please either mark the bill with constructive comments or provide a separate statement of comments citing line numbers, where appropriate.
