Sounds like something the Section’s Insurance Committee should investigate.

Subject: [RPPTL LandTen] Renters insurance
A big property management software company is giving this to their customers.
I have no experience in insurance law but:
1. Can a landlord pay the premium for the insurance if the tenant fails to pay per the agreement?
2. How do we know if their insurance is legal in Florida?
3. Is an admin fee as seen in paragraph 5 ( I think they meant to say Lessor) legal?
4. Note this is not even called renter’s insurance and does not cover any of the tenant’s personal property.
The whole thing smells funny.
The out of state software companies are trying to be a one stop shop and do not care what is legal or not.
