[RPPTL LandTen] Strange question

I have clients (property managers of course) who are asked by current tenants to provide a rental verification. You know, is rent on time, are they really tenants, amount etc. The reason the tenants want this is to buy a home or move to another rental and sometimes they do.

In the process, some break the lease angering the owner and manager.

My advice to my clients is to just do it and cooperate as I feel it is the right thing to do BUT, let’s talk law, not opinions.

Is there any law requiring the owner or the property manager cooperate and give out a rental verification regarding a current tenant?

Thanks!!

Harry
