To all,
The answers to Chuck's question on "no pet rules" and my question yesterday on sale of the income stream from cell towers demonstrates the power of the list serve.
We currently have just over 100 members of the committee and people on the list serve. To Art Menor and Neil Shoter who chaired this committee for many years and grew it to where it is today we say thank you. One thing we can all do to make the Landlord Tenant committee and the list serve even better is to increase its size. If each of us would reach out to one or two of our peers and have them join, we will all be well served. Pasted below is a slightly modified version of an email I have used when talking to people about joining the Landlord/Tenant committee, please make it your own and reach out to your peers to join us.
I greatly appreciate your interest in the Landlord Tenant committee of Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar. I am a current member of the committee. The committee:
provides a forum for practitioners to discuss ongoing issues,
acts as a sounding board/advocate regarding proposed changes and
provides a forum which to meet their peers.
A member of the Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section incurs no cost to become a member of the Landlord/Tenant Committee. There is no required work, participation or attendance. If you are interested in attending our meetings, the committee meets approximately 4 times a year (and those who wish to attend can do so in person or by phone). Usually the meetings last 1 to 1.5 hours and include a continuing education speaker which qualifies for one credit. Of course, if you would like to do more we would welcome your active participation.
If you have any questions please reach out to our Chair (Lloyd Granet lgranet at granetlaw.com<mailto:lgranet at granetlaw.com>) , Vice Chair (Rick Eckhard rick.eckhard at hklaw.com<mailto:rick.eckhard at hklaw.com>) or our secretary (Arlene Udick Arlene at udicklaw.com<mailto:Arlene at udicklaw.com>). Please email Arlene or Lloyd "sign me up" to confirm your desire to be a join the committee. Please forward this email to any other interested lawyers and encourage them to join!

At the Boyer Institute this year, the speaker said that basically there is no such thing as a pet free building any more. Examples included a basset hound "stress dog," yappy nippy yorkie "stress dogs" and the like. And dogs over 20 lbs in small dog buildings. The dogs don't need any special training or certification. They just need some kind of doctor letter, which is $65 on the web.
Good luck.

Does anyone have any insight on a tenant's request under the Fair Housing law and ADA (post traumatic stress) for a "therapy dog" in an apartment complex that is "no pets".
