[Iesaf_selkirk] Fw: SAF Tree Planting Project - Pack River Delta

Kathy Cousins has arranged with the Sandpoint High School Forestry and Wildlife Class to plant white pine seedlings at the Pack River Delta on Friday, April 29th.  Actually we'll plant at two Idaho Fish & Game parcels but they're close together.  The students will travel on a school bus.  I have ordered 200 WP seedlings from the Bonner Soil & Water Conservation District and they have agreed to donate some additional seedlings if we need them.  The seedlings arrive on April 15th and I can store them in the IDL cooler (if we have it running). IDL has some planting tools that we loan to private landowners; I can reserve some for us.  We may need a few extra tools.  We'll also need a few SAF members to oversee the planting.  

 

This will be a great opportunity to get a few photos to submit to The Forestry Source and The Western Forester.

 

Following is the tentative schedule:

 

0900       Meet at Rapid Lightning Creek Segment of the Pend Oreille Wildlife Management Area

                Plant 170+ seedlings

1200       Lunch at Rapid Lightning Creek (Kathy will provide her "knock down chili" for lunch)

1230       Travel to Pack River Delta (approximately 5 miles)

1300       Plant 30+ seedlings

1400       Students Travel back to SHS
