The Inland Empire and Montana sections of the Society of American
Foresters are gearing up for our annual conference, which is being held in
Coeur d'Alene, April 26-28. This year we’re holding our conference as a
joint venture with Montana, and the focus of the conference will be
two-fold. First, renowned scientists and professionals will help us explore
some of the most pressing issues facing the forestry
profession—fragmentation, changes in land tenure and social values, and the
potential for climate change. Second, we will work collaboratively with
scientists and invited policy makers to find promising solutions to those
issues changing the role of forestry. You can find a .pdf file, including
both the agenda and registration form for our 2007 Annual Conference, on
the IESAF website (www.iesaf.org). The hard copy was sent to all members
late last week. Please let me know if you have any questions!
Also, it's that time of year again to dig deep and start thinking about
Foresters' Fund donations. This year, the UI student chapter will be
helping us with the raffle and silent auction, so they will be getting a
share of the proceeds. Should you choose to do so, you can also earmark
your donation to be donated solely to the student chapter. Either way, your
donated items will benefit very worthy causes! Start planning your donation
today.
Remember- register early for both the conference and your hotel
reservations. The deadline for reduced-rate hotel rooms at the Coeur
d'Alene Inn is April 6th, and early registration for the conference ends
April 10th. We'll look forward to seeing you at the 2007 Inland
Empire/Montana SAF Annual Conference! Let's all work together to help guide
the forestry profession toward a brighter future!
