<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Courier>The Palouse/Snake River chapter meeting is
scheduled for September 30 at the University Best Western Inn. Social hour
starts at 5:30 PM. We will order from the menu followed by a business
meeting. The program will be by Ned Pence who will present a power point program
on the history of land management planning for the South Fork of the Salmon
River and the results of the 2007 Cascade Complex and East Zone Complex
fires followed by the 2010 June flood.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Courier></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Courier>Ned was District Ranger on the Krassel District
from 1971 to 1976 and a major author of the first Land Use Plan prepared for the
South Fork of the Salmon River shortly after the 1969 National Environmental
Policy Act was passed. He has a unique perspective on how management of this
sensitive area in the heart of the Idaho Batholith has progressed from 1965 to
the present.</FONT></DIV>
