Palouse-Snake River SAF Chapter November Meeting

 

TITLE:  The Jack O'Connor Hunting Heritage & Education Center: History
and Purpose by Kent Henderson

 

OVERVIEW: The Jack O'Connor Hunting Heritage & Education Center:

 

    * Serves as a memorial to the legacy of Jack O'Connor, one of the
foremost outdoor writers of  

      the 20th century, displaying his collection of trophy heads, his
writings, guns, and 

      related memorabilia.

 

    * Promotes and perpetuates the hunting heritage of America

 

    * Educates the public about the important role hunting plays in
modern resource management

 

    * Educates future generations of Americans about safe and ethical
hunting  

 

Richard Reid will give a tour of the Center, which will be followed by a
presentation on the Center's History and Purpose by Kent Henderson. 

 

 

WHEN: Wednesday, November 7th

 

         Center Tour @ 5:45 pm

         Business Meeting @ 6:15 pm

         Dinner @ 6:30 pm

         Presentation @ 7:00 pm

 

WHERE: The O'Conner Center - Lewiston, ID

 

 Directions

 

    * In Lewiston, follow the brown and white signs to Hells Gate State
Park. The entrance to the

      park is 1.4 miles south of the east end of the Southway Bridge as
it crosses the Snake

      River from Clarkston Washington to Lewiston Idaho.

 

    * Turn right (west) on Hells Gate Road into Hells Gate State Park.
Go one mile to the Jack

      O'Connor Center Access Road.

 

    * Take the Jack O'Connor Center Access Road (first road to the left
past the Tammany Creek

      bridge) to the parking lot at the Jack O'Connor Hunting Heritage
and Education Center

      (approximately 300 yards).

 

    * We will be carpooling from Moscow.  Please let me know in your
RSVP if you wish to carpool.

 

 

MENU: Most likely a combo selection from KFC and Subway  

 

COST: Somewhere between $5 and $10
