In early November, Tera King of Northwest Management, Inc. attended a
presentation by Bill Robinson, the informed, outspoken and slightly
sardonic President of Robinson Research in Spokane. In what may
ultimately prove to have been an error in judgment, she invited him to
speak at our December Society of American Foresters meeting. Due to
holidays and time conflicts this meeting was postponed until this month.
Bill Robinson has been conducting consumer research on forest issues
since 1979. He has conducted over one hundred surveys and focus groups
on forest issues and is incredibly passionate about the subject. (He’s
become so accustomed to “colorful” WUI residents in focus groups that he
no longer asks them to leave their firearms outside.)
His rants about forestry jargon have been featured in The Journal of
Forestry.
Mr. Robinson will give us his candid observations on how those outside
the various forest industries view forests, forest management, forest
fires, fire suppression, smoke, Smokey, prescribed burns, back burns,
evacuations, and more. Bill welcomes comments, questions and pernicious
nonsense from the audience on the fly, rather than holding audience
participation to the end. His talks are always amusing, enlightening and
slightly offbeat. Come and enjoy this informative, Powerpoint-free,
lights-on, eyeball-to-eyeball, strangely humorous, slightly disturbing
presentation. Viewer discretion is advised. Please leave your firearms
at the door.
