[RPPTL-constructionlaw] Arnie's Groundhog Day Hangover: Part 8

Dear CLC Groupies: Oh boy! I don't feel so good this morning (or is it
afternoon already? - don't know because the shades in my office are
drawn). So please excuse the following rambling thoughts. I'm not
myself today.

Well, it's the day after my annual Groundhog's Day party when several
hundred of my closest friends join me in the pagan ritual of worshipping
the great marmot. Bill Murray would have been proud. Unfortunately, I
don't have any drama to report from this year's event. Interestingly,
while feeling "under the weather" from imbibing in too much "Momma's
Milk" (a/k/a Maker's Mark), I developed some really weird thoughts that
I feel compelled to share or blurt. Follow me if you care to.

1. Would A&E green light my idea for a new reality t.v. show
entitled "The Green Pimp /or Madam." (working title - gender to be
determined at casting) where we follow the trials and tribulations of an
ecologically sensitive pimp or madam while working her/his stable of
male / female prostitutes? (that's as politically correct as you can
get for such a topic). With homage to Mr. T, a classic Green Pimp
catchphrase would be "reduce your carbon footprint or I'm gonna put a
footprint on your face." You know that has huge merchandizing
possibilities. Too long for a baseball cap but will fit nicely on a
t-shirt. (This is not your kinder, gentler pimp as reflected in HBO's
Reno Nevada-based The Bunny Ranch - we are going for edgy - think Heidi
Fleiss meets Governor Rick Scott). Watch for my email with an investment
opportunity via crowd funding.

2. Why do I get so irritated when I see a really nice car (at
least one nicer than mine) with a handicapped parking decal parked in a
handicapped parking space at Publix. I know it isn't right but I'm
always highly suspicious of whether the driver is actually handicapped
(a much heightened level of scrutiny if you will) - as if a handicapped
person couldn't own and drive something other than a 1997 Chevy
conversion van. God help me but I have my issues.

3. If you have to send an unsolicited email to all of your family,
friends, acquaintances and hundreds of folks who don't know you
requesting that they vote for you to be selected a Super Lawyer or
Rising Star, are you really deserving of such? To me, a true Super
Lawyer or Rising Star in construction law is one that has made the
commitment and invested the time to attend the CLC's monthly meetings,
the CLI's annual event in Orlando and has become a Board Certified
Construction Attorney (nice plug!?). No matter how many newsletters you
send, AVVO ads you place, radio spots you purchase, business
publications you embellish your firm size in, you are not, in my book at
least, a true construction lawyer.

This Monday's speaker is our old friend Ed Kinberg with Kinberg &
Associates, LLC in Melbourne, Florida. Ed will present on the Office of
the Federal Contractor Compliance and Policy which overseas / enforces
labor practices issues. I don't think that this group has authority over
the Green Pimp's business affairs but that's a good question for Ed.

Please make every effort to join us this Monday, February 11th at 11:30
a.m.. Call-in instructions are contained on the attached Notice of
Meeting and Agenda. Email me directly at atritt at atritt.com if you have
any questions, comments or concerns. Thanks, Arnie.
