Gang: Happy belated Independence Day to all of my CLC faithful. Not to
get all "patriotic" on you (why would President Bush have used air
quotes when saying that word?) but the 4th of July always makes me pause
to reflect and be thankful for the blessings bestowed upon me, as an
American, during the time between graduating from high school and
getting married (1981 - 1999).
Ahh, independence!! Give me liberty or give me another round of
shooters.
Yes, liberty!! Don't tread on me or my sweet new St. Pauli's Girl
poster.
A period of time when my idea of fung shway interior decorating
consisted of some precariously stacked milk crates which served to
proudly display my Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders AM/ FM alarm clock radio
and bong. Norman Rockwell should have painted a portrait of me in my
dorm room to truly capture his "Americana" (again with the quotation
marks?). But no, Anderson Cooper and his Mom wouldn't have it. Now I
know why. (F.U. Anderson and your mamma's jeans too!!). But I digress
into a midlife crisis induced dream sequence.
The bane of my existence is pre-sliced fresh fruit. (where was the
segue? At least give them some quotation marks). If Chief Justice
Roberts wants to write a lengthy opinion about Congress' right to impose
a tax on the American people, it should be about pre-sliced fresh fruit.
Single payer my ass. Think about! There sits a perfectly good
cantaloupe. Ripe. Plush. Juicy (get on with it. you are starting to
drift) and it only costs $1.00 (while in season and supplies last). As
you pivot to your left you notice the dairy case with half of a
cantaloupe, pre-sliced and in a nice plastic container and its only
$2.97. Only $2.97 for half a cantaloupe?!?! For what? Slicing it? (why
did I single-out cantaloupes and failed to mention the other members of
the melon family? Or berries for that matter. As if you don't know the
back-story. More on the gourd wars of 1984 in a later email).
I can think of no better way to celebrate the month of July than to have
Pauly "The Shoe Shine" Del Vecchio as our speaker for Monday's
teleconference. Paul's presentation is an overview of the Construction
Industry Licensing Board (CILB) and Florida Statutes Chapter 489.
Riddle: How many CILB members does it take to screw in a light bulb?
See attached an agenda for the meeting which contains the call-in
information. Hope that everyone is having a great week and summer.
Talk to you on Monday. Arnie.
P.S. - guess who has been green-lighted for a reality t.v. show on A&E?
Move-over Duck Dynasty and Barter Kings - there is a new sheriff in
town. ADT.
