See attached two cases on local preference law, particularly the fifth dca case.

Florida Statute 255.20 provides:

 (i) This subsection does not preempt the requirements of any small-business or disadvantaged-business enterprise program or any local-preference ordinance.

This is the only statute I found related to contracting that mentiosn local preferences. However, there are plenty of city and county ordinances on local preferences...

Maybe Larry, Fred, April, Arnold, or Lee know more?.....

My client has asked this question: “Have you seen or heard about possible state legislation that would make local contractor preference on bids illegal?”

Fred (or anyone else), can you provide an answer? What is the current status of the law regarding local preference ordinances? Any pending legislation regarding these ordinances?

Thanks.
