Thank you all for the input and advice! I'm disappointed to hear that I was
on the wrong track, although I do love that first case that Andrew Mayts
provided a cite for. That certainly sounds like it might be helpful. The
whole thing just seems to completely gut the statutory requirement of
amending within the same 90 timeframe that the original lien had. But if
that's the rule, that's the rule.

I had a case exactly like that - the lien is good and the judge was
correct, sorry to say. The Amended Lien is basically a new lien since the
LAST DAY changed. I know that you are going to receive long, drawn-out
responses, but the result is the same - the lien is good.
