It appears the home was purchased from a long-term owner, and "renovated" by a flipper, and sold for substantial price increase. The client believes the seller performed defective renovation work and failed to disclose material facts, so the matter involves both construction defects and potential Johnson v Davis claims.
After moving in, defects were discovered with the renovation plumbing, the newly installed flooring warping due to moisture intrusion, the siding repaired by the seller leaking during rainstorms; and the roof, despite appearing new during the inspection, leaking in three spots during rainstorms.
The potential clients also believe they were misled by the seller, as they were told after specific inquiry the home was on city sewer. (The potential clients made it known to their agent that they would not consider a house with a septic tank). Approximately 6 months later, the client stepped into a hole in their backyard, thereby discovering the existence of a septic tank. A septic contractor was called out who confirmed that the house was connected to that septic tank and that it was at least 15 years old because of the type and condition of the septic tank, which is also in need of substantial and expensive repairs.
<p class="MsoNormal" align="left" style="text-align:left;margin:0in;font-size:11pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;font-weight:bold"><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif;color:black;font-weight:normal">

Please contact me directly if you might be able to assist in this matter and I can send you information for conflicts check and then connect with JALA.

Thank you

Pam Holcombe

Co-Chair CLC Pro Bono Committee
