<p class="MsoNormal">I have an out of state interior design firm that has been awarded a commercial project located in Florida. The firm does not currently have any Florida registered IDs or a certificate of registration pursuant to 481. There are IDs within
the firm that have the requisite education, experience and have passed the NCIDQ such that becoming Florida registered should not be a problem. However, that is not the case for everyone in the firm that will work on the project. 481.219(7) provides that the
board shall certify an applicant as qualified for a certificate of authorization to offer architectural or interior design services, provided that (b) One or more of the principal officers of the corporation or one or more partners of the partnership,
<b><i>and all personnel of the corporation, limited liability company, or partnership who act in its behalf</i></b> in this state as interior designers, are registered as provided by this part. 61G1-23.040 titled “Responsible Supervising Control Over Interior
Design Practice in the Registered Interior Designer’s Office” seems to state that in an ID firm, there just needs to be supervision over personnel by the registered ID. I am trying to figure out if each person in the firm who provides ID services to the Florida
project must be a Florida registered ID, or if one person can qualify the entire firm to obtain a certificate of authority and the other personnel providing ID services can work on the Florida project under that person supervision? Does the language about
“acting on behalf” apply to anyone providing ID services, or just the principles that can act for a company in Florida? Thanks for any insight.
