Bruce, you are probably correct concerning the potential use of this exclusion within the endorsement. And that would hardly be the first time that insurers adopted policy language for one purpose and ended up using it for another purpose later.

Thanks, everyone. Looks like the consensus is that it’s to address some of the extremely low perm things like spray on vinyl.

That said, I can see an insurer trying to argue that it might apply to some other spray on coatings that are high-perm, or even some of the cementitious products that are (at least for one coat) sprayed on. A lot of traditional stucco is getting the first coat sprayed on for large areas. Sometimes the second and third coats too.

Thankfully the client I’m reviewing the policy for doesn’t use any of that…..

Bruce,

I believe Robert Doan is correct. Google the term“spray on siding.” It is a common search term and lots of products. You have probably seen the ads, “Never Paint Again.”

I think it’s probably referring to liquid vinyl.

Folks –

I ran across this in reviewing a clients CGL policy and have not seen it before – it’s in an exclusion within an endorsement (GL EDW 06 10).

Does anyone know what it means by a “spray on siding product”? It doesn’t have a definition within the endorsement.
