If the retaining wall is structural, then yes.  CGC, CBC, CRC.  Maybe a Marine contractor depending on the type of wall (see 61G4-15.033 for definition of a marine contractor).  Many times the local jurisdiction will have a retaining wall permit so you should also check with the local authority.

Subject: [CLC-Discussion] License to Construct Retaining Wall

We have a case in the office involving a failed retaining wall.  We have not been able to find any information that clearly states a license is required for the work.

I would appreciate any information on the following three questions;


1.     Does a Florida contractor need a license to build a retaining wall?

2.     If so, what type of license(s)?

3.     Does it matter whether the retaining wall is "structural" or "non-structural"?
