Moves and it shouldn't? Duct Tape

Does not move and it should? WD40

For everything else, call a licensed contractor.

Speaking of duct tape ........ (queue James Taylor's 1977 hit song "Handyman" as the sound track for the following email. Sing it with me. "Hey girls, gather round. Listen to what I'm putting down. Hey baby, I'm your handy man.)

Does anyone remember the 1980's action-adventure television series MacGyver? I didn't watch the program state-side but became very familiar with it while in Asia in the summer of 1990 (that's a story for another day and involves my summer clerkship at Smith, Currie & Hancock where I proudly still hold the title of "Worst Legal Intern Ever").

It appears that the character MacGyver very much appealed to Asian sensibilities as he was, and I am quoting from wikipedia, "resourceful and possessed of an encyclopedic knowledge of the physical sciences, he solves complex problems with everyday materials he finds at hand, along with his ever-present duct tape and Swiss Army knife. He prefers non-violent resolutions and prefers not to handle a gun." The actor who played Agent MacGyver, Richard Dean Anderson, was as popular in Taipei, Taiwan as Fonzie was in 1950's Milwaukee, WI (Henry Winkler was an Executive Producer of the show - (h)eyyyy! or Whoa!!).

I mean MacGyver's image was on everything in Asia - posters, t-shirts, bumper stickers (if they had cars). The entire country of Taiwan shut down every week to watch the latest episode (kind of like at my house when the latest installment of The Bachelor comes on).

My point is that MacGyver was not properly licensed under any definition contemplated by the Florida Statutes in regards to his use of duct tape, paper clips, tampon applicators, etc. in his attempts to save the free world from terrorism and he should be thoroughly investigated by the CILB and/or the DPBR and/or some other fictional clandestine international agency governing such illicit activities.

Of course, I could have confused MacGyver with MacGruber - a recurring of sketch on SNL parodying MacGyver. If so, please disregard this email. Love the ones with Charles Barkley.

Anyway, emails with the words "handyman" and "duct tape" get me thinking and smiling. Hope everyone is having as good week!! Arnie.

Handyman scope of work definition: Something that can be fixed with duct tape.

If it can't, hire a licensed Florida Contractor.

Pardon the interruption,

Is there a scope of services that definitively qualifies as "handyman" services and does not require licensure by the CILB.

Thanks in advance.
